- Explain to her that its Merlot OR caviar, but not both.
- you should be ashamed f your self turning ur dog into an alcolholic im ringing the rspca
- i dunno, maybe picture her dead after drinking it and you won't have a problem denying her of it anymore Alcohol Did you know that alcoholic beverages can be potentially dangerous to pets? During the winter season, holiday parties abound, with many festivities including cocktails and other alcoholic libations. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center advises pet owners to avoid leaving alcoholic drinks unattended; such beverages should always be kept well out of the reach of pets. Depending on the amount ingested, alcohol ingestions can potentially result in vomiting, diarrhea, incoordination, central nervous system depression, difficulty breathing, tremors, acidosis, coma and even death.
- LOL. Does she like it with cheddar or brie? Add: don't give her alcohol. Really(:
- NOT SAFE AT ALL! Dogs cannot properly process alcohol and it is very dangerous. Ignore those begging eyes for her own good.
- animals shouldn't have alcohol
- Ol' dogs jus' love to get pi*sed. Yee Ha!!
- That is one sophisticated dog. but expensive at that.
- No it's not safe.....alcohol is a poison and grapes have been known to cause kidney failure in dogs!!
- of course she does. I would be very careful. Dogs aren't designed to drink wine, plus, what a waste. Drink it yourself and give her a bowl of water! Dogs get hooked on stuff like lollies, chocolate and alcohol, worse than humans...LOL !
- If she is your guide dog: STOP
- Weird that people bother "answering"
- According to Purdue University's webpage, dogs are about as capable of metabolizing alcohol as you are. The thing is, they're a lot smaller and most people don't account for that, so depending on her size, the amount it takes to give you a little buzz might kill your dog. I'd say let her have a taste (a few drops if she's a small dog, maybe a couple of swallows if she's a big dog) but not a glassful. Don't leave it where she can reach it and help herself. And take advantage of her cravings -- use it as a training tool and have her obey a command before you let her lick it up. :)
- NO do you know whats in red wine it could kill. Like dark chocolate, don't give your dog any alcohol. Please i know you luv your dog i luv mine so do your best to say no even if you have to smack it on the nose. Cruel to be kind true saying.
- Probably the tiny amount of alcohol that you are giving her will not hurt her, but... You are teaching her to beg by giving into her demands. She will continue to drive you crazy if you don't stop.
- Please, please, please stop giving alcohol to your dog! You HAVE to "deny them begging eyes" or you will end up with no eyes , begging or otherwise, looking up at you! Btw...our chocolate is a no-go too. If you think it's ok for you to do this then why don't you phone the RSPCA and tell them this is what you do! You probably already knew this was bad for your dog but needed someone else to tell you. Our Cocker Spaniel was, obviously, fed food she shouldn't have had by her previous owner because she was terribly overweight when we got her from the Dogs' Trust 17 months ago. She is still a bit overweight now but she doesn't get anything of ours and only dog related foodstuffs. She has the biggest brown eyes imaginable but we've never given in to them or her. We have no doubts that you love your dog but you need to be sensible and stop this NOW! x
- Are you crazy? I can understand if a tad of wine may spill on the floor and the dog licks it up but do not just let the dog have it. Most dogs are much smaller than humans and their little digestive systems cannot handle what ours can. You will be sorry if you give in to your dogs begging.
- Dogs systems can not tolerate alcohol. Just like an infant, dogs will vomit and it can cause more long term problems. I would keep a bottle of doggy beer (non alcoholic beer for dogs) on hand and let him have his own special drink or you can try some chicken or beef broth. That way you aren't denying him and you aren't hurting him. I'm glad you can enjoy a nice quiet evening with your dog.
- Ignore the begging eyes. Alcohol is very bad for dogs.
- I know exactly how you feel mate! My boy loves, correction, will rip your hand off ha ha, for a tiny drop of Sheridans!!! Whats wrong with it? We drink it so if it was an unhealthy liquid to have they'd have a warning on the bottle??? Red wine is supposed to be excellent for the blood, they didn't say whose blood it was good for did they? My boy, a cross between a jack russell and a yorkie, is 9 yrs of age and for the last 3 yrs he's been addicted to a drop of Sheridans! How it started was like this - i like to have a few beers indoors with my friends and one night, after being given a bottle of Sheridans as a gift, i opened it. No problem there then! I put my glass on the floor and my boy literally jumped on it! He was in raptures with this drink - rolling on his belly, skitting about like a loon, it was comical to watch! There was around three to four tablespoons in that glass that night and he polished off the lot! He didn't have any adverse effects the next day and it was another two weeks before i had some more - the same bloody thing happened!!! Now, he will sit where i keep my bottle of sheridans and he will kick the s**t out of the bottle and if thats not there and theres a lemonade or coke bottle there he'll kick the s**t out of that! He's addicted to it and i will let him have it, simple as that! He doesn't have a whole bottle, he doesn't have half a bottle, he has a teaspoon or two, once every two weeks! He enjoys it, looks forward to it and as his mum, i'm supervising it and allow it, nothing wrong in that! He's not going to go out with his mates and mug the nearest granny or kick the local bus shelter to bits!!! Keep giving your girl a drop of what she fancies, it'll do her good! Wish mine would like the wine, its good for our blood, why shouldn't it be good for theirs? Good luck to ya mate! x
