How to achieve a merlot cherry finish on kitchen cabinets?

How to achieve a merlot cherry finish on kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are new and unfinished. I like the look of the rich merlot cherry color but cannot find a stain exactly like I want. I do see photos of cabinets already made in this color. I assume it must be a 2 step process to achieve. Any information would be helpful. Thank you

  2. You might try getting some samples and mixing colors yourself. If you can make one you like get larger cans and mix and apply all at once or your color will not be consistant throughout the kitchen.
  3. a lot of paint stores can do a custom stain, you may have to get a few samples try them on a inconspicuous place, and pick your favorite and it may involve 2-3 layers and a clear topcoat
  4. I suggest you get a can of Bartleys Jet Mahogany gel stain. I believe it will come pretty close to you want. Check it out on this website. If not try one of the others. http://bartleycollection.com/catalog/index.php?l=product_list&c=30 These gel stains go on like show polish and can really look great.
