What is the best Merlot wine for less then $10.00?

- Barefoot is not bad.. but depends on what size bottle your looking for, if you go with a 750 ml bottle you can get more quality for less than $10 but it you want quantity, Barefoot 1.5L bottle is hard to beat
- Two Buck Chuck. You buy it at Trader Joes. It has won contests against some really expensive wines.
- beringer makes a great white merlot, Charles Shaw isn't too bad, either
- The southern hemisphere is where you should look! Look for the South African "Lost Horizons" label ( http://www.restaurantreport.com/features/ft_losthorizons.html ) They make a good merlot and cab. They are often very inexpensive and somewhat easy to find, though not everywhere. Another merlot that is always under $10 would be "Gato Negro" from Chile, ( http://www.winechateau.com/vsku1302354.html ) you should not have any trouble finding this one. From California, there is "Turning Leaf": http://www.winechateau.com/vsku1031640.html as well as "Forest Glen": http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=22340 Of all these, I think I might recommend a Forrest Glen from 1999 or earlier if you can find one. Enjoy
- I personally like Rex Goliath. About $8.00 for a .750ml bottle. I also found a brand from Chile and Argentina called Frontera that goes for less than $10 for a 1.5l bottle at my local supermarket.
