2 part question-I am looking for a really good Merlot and a wine.?
Do you have to drink an aged Merlot to get the best taste? They say it's suppose to taste fruity but every single one i have tried is nasty to my taste. How do I find one that is really good? Also, every time I want to throw a party, I can never find a good wine. I hate the tangy taste that it has. What is a good one and does it have to be aged also?

- merlot will not be "fruity". It's a dry wine. That tang is the "dry" try a sweet wine like beujolais noveau (spelling prob wrong)
- I would guess that you want a sweet and fruity wine. In wine, fruity does not mean sweet. I would try a dessert wine. Maybe a moscato. If you have tried dessert wine before and think it is too syrupy, try one with a lower alcohol content. Also, if you want a dry wine (not sweet) a beaujolais nouveau is good, so are pinot noirs, and zinfandel can be very fruity. However, zinfandel is also a fairly bold, and can be a tannic wine (this is the pucker your mouth feeling you are likely getting with the merlot, think about black tea and how it makes your mouth pucker that is due to tannins). A lot of people will start with dessert wines and as they become more accustomed to the taste move into lighter bodied wines like Pinot Noir and then into Merlot. It might help you get more used to the taste. Good luck!
