Is Merlot wine supposed to be refrigerated?
Public Comments
- Red wine is supposed to be served at room temperature.
- i think its supposed to be served around 65 degrees
- nooooooooooooooooooooo room temp is best
- white wine sometimes, red wine NEVER!
- No its supposed to be served to suburban housewives, philistines and/or thrown away.
- No. But if you like it that way have at it.
- The rule of thumb for Merlot is to put in the fridge for 30 minutes before you pop the cork. ( Or screw cap for the good stuff ) This will put just a bit of a chill on it and the bottle. As it warms to room temp it will give off more fragrance and seem to taste a bit better/nicer. With all white wines you should chill in the fridge completely and then 30 minutes before popping the cork remove from the fridge.. Try it...
- i rule
- You serve it and drink it, at whatever temperature you enjoy it! It *should* be served at slightly lower than room temperature, but it isn't *supposed* to be served at anything other than what you prefer. I actually like some of my reds slightly chilled. After you open it, if you don't finish the bottle, it will keep longer if refrigerated. .
- Red wine should be served at cellar temperature around 55 degrees.
- It should be stored at a temperature in the low fifties (F) if possible and drunk at a temperature in the mid-sixties.
- In my wine lounge we keep our red wines at 63 degrees for serving. Cellar temperature of 55 degrees is too cool. I would say the ideal temp is 63-65 degrees. If you like it cooler, by all means drink it that way. At 63 degrees you can feel a slight coolness in the mouth.
