What is a good wine to enjoy in the evening without food?

My fiance and I sit back and enjoy a bottle of wine in the evening, from time to time. Is there a good wine to enjoy without food for this reason? We like pinot grigio, but merlot was too dark. I'm wondering if there is something else. Thanks!

1. Shiraz is great, and Yellowtail makes a nice one that is affordable. Vino Verdi if you can find it is light, a bit sparkly and great for hanging out. Slightly lower alcohol content too.

3. Try Pinot Gris from Alsace, France. Or better a Gewurztraminer. Personally in the same occasion I enjoy a Muscat (Beaume-de-Venise) or any late harvest wine. Sometimes, an Old Port (Taylor Fladgate 10 yrs Old) will do just fine.
