Not a red wine fan, but I would drink tap water if that was the conversation. :-)
Given that you've prejudged the topic, I'd probably decline. I don't subscribe to either party but I do realize that most people have a very narrow view and lack exposure the "big picture".

I wouldn't ruin a good wine discussing politics of any nature. Why fight lets drink and be merry.
if it were a sweeter, lighter wine, i'd be there, especially considering the topic of discussion but i don't like merlot that much
