Merlot Red Wine Knowledge Base
Can anyone suggest a nice red wine to me? Preferably, a merlot or cabarnet? I love rich, full bodied, dry red wines. I have sampled some great ones on my own good judgement/luck, but I'm interested in some reccomendations from everyone else. Please also describe the wine in a few words to me so I can get a picture of it's character. I'm having some good friends over this weekend and we are roasting a side of goat, making kebab, dolmades, and there will be some curried dishes like cous cous and cucumber salad. Looking for something that can pair well with these kinds of foods.
red merlot wines? How long after opening a bottle of room temperature merlot red wine will it remain drinkable?
How many calories in an entire bottle of red wine? Hi. I feel terrible cuz I've been trying to get a six pack? But yesterday I tried to get this chick drunk and in the process I drank a whole bottle of red wine or merlot or whatever. So any idea how many calories that is?
Can anyone recommend a really good alcohol-free red wine? Prior to being pregnant there was nothing I liked more than a nice glass of Shiraz or Merlot wine. Now I have vowed not to drink any alcohol for the full 9 months (and if I breastfeed too) I have been looking for a good substitution. Fruit juices don't hit the spot and I've been looking at alcohol-free reds. Can anyone personally recommend a particular brand? Thanks! There are plenty of alcohol free reds out there - http://www.alcoholfree.co.uk/index.php?cPath=2_46_14&osCsid=ea9791afbbc28c54b01bb2dc87180a68 and drinking the real stuff is not an option! I will not drink while pregnant! ;-) Thanks for the "helpful" answer Pelayo. I am well aware that there are bad alcohol free wines on the market, hence my question. I usually drink very good quality wines so if there's not a good one out there I will remain tee total while pregnant.
What is your favorite red wine? I love merlot! Any suggestions on good ones that are not too sweet and aren't the crazy expensive kind? Other red wines besides merlot are ok too.
What kind of red wine (generally) goes well with sushi? I like to drink red wine (Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cab mainly), but don't know a whole lot about it. I also don't really know what kind of foods pair up with what types of wine. A few sushi restaurants I like are BYOB, so what should I bring? If you know a great website that has info on this type of thing, that would be awesome! Thanks!!

red wine- I need suggestions on red wine for beginners? I usually drink beer and mixed drinks but I really want to start drinking red wine instead. I don't drink often and every red wine I've tasted was too strong and couldn't take a second sip. Whenever I attend nicer occasions when there is mostly wines served, I usually just head to the sparkling wine or champagne. I know there are many types of reds, like merlot, pinot noir, etc. Any suggestions on types of reds that are not too strong that a beginner could handle.
Which type of red wine is sweeter? I had this bottle the other week and it was great then I brought another bottle last night and it was horrible. It was dry, sour and left a horrible taste in my mouth, think is was a merlot. Which type of red wine is a bit sweeter and has less of a kick, thanks guys.
White wine for a red wine lover? I'm typically a red wine drinker (sangiovese and merlot in particular). I have yet to develop a taste for white wine, but I wanted to start trying some out. Any white wine suggestions for a red wine lover?

A question about Red wine...?? How much does a bottle of Merlot red wine cost? Can I buy it at just any place that sell alcohol or is it only found at some?
What kind of red wine to use in cooking? I routinely cook with white wine, but rarely use red wine in cooking (except in making beef burgundy). If a recipe for a beef stew or beef roast calls for the addition of red wine, what kind of wine do you use? A merlot? A cabernet? Or is there something else? Will any inexpensive domestic red wine work?
non dry sweet red wine from supermarket? I had a ruinite at my mums the other day and it left a dry after taste in my mouth, but that was really the first time i have ever had wine that i remember so I think it was a dry taste. I did not like it, but i like sweet tastes. I don't know is there an opposite of dry when it comes to wines??? What is a good cheap red wine to purchase? I was wondering what good red wine I could buy that is under $10 Canadian?. You know that kind you can get at a supermarket or at your local Wine merchant. I don't like Merlot, and I want something light and fresh so it doesn't taste too strong. Any ideas?
What's a good website that gives me the differences between the types of wine? I'm a very big fan of wine and I've try to get my hands on as many types as I can.. I'm still trying to find my favorites: I love white wine: riesling is so good as a dessert wine.. but too much makes me sick. Chardannay is really tasty. I'm trying to love red wine: Merlot is as far as I go. Any suggestions on websites? Or personal favorites?
How to buy good red wine under $25? I found several scoring systems, and I made a list of Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and other red wines scoring >90% and priced under $25; but when I go to buy I never find what's on the list.
A nice, fairly inexpensive red wine to personally enjoy? Well, I've only been 21 for awhile now but I've come to enjoy a glass or two of red wine on the weekends. Right now I've got a bottle of Shiraz open, from Yellow Tail. I've been hearing Yellow Tail is cheap, but since I don't have a distinguished taste when it comes to wine yet, I like it. My question is, can anyone tell me a fairly inexpensive ($7-$20), yet 'good' red wine to try out? I like all red wines.. Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.. ect. Thanks! =)
when I drink dry red wine???? Why is it when I drink dry red wine, like Merlot or Cabernet, which I really like, I CANNOT SLEEP???? I toss and turn omg I grit my teeth! I really like it; its not until I try to go to bed that I find out I react to it like I had 4 cups of coffee???!!!!
Red wine suggestions for various price ranges? I'm a novice wine drinker. I've found that I like Merlot's the best because, in my limited experience, they're the least sweet. I really like Ecco Domani, Mezzacorona, and Cellar No. 8 (I think that's a Berringer wine, but I'm not sure). I would love some suggestions of good merlots in various price ranges and some other less sweet reds. An under $20, under $50, and under $250 suggestion would be most appreciated. As well as which regions are known to have better reds, if certain years are better than others, or any other tips that a novice would benefit from.
Red wine for sensitive stomach? For years, ,my boyfriend used to enjoy Merlot and other reds, and developed an allergy or sensitivity to "something" in wine that gives him horrible stomach ache. Do you know what is the ingredient to avoid? Or process? Or grape? We'd love to share some wine without worries. Thanks.
I just bought 2 bottles of Berringer White Merlot wine tonight, so some questions? I'm not an alcoholic. Aside from a couple of wine-coolers back in the mid-90s, I've pretty much stayed away from booze. And even though my wife is now calling me her 'boozer husband' (because this was my first purchase), I would like to get people's honest feedback on this moment. I heard that drinking red wine has a lot of benefits, and since I wanted to test out this theory, I was wondering just how much I should inbibe on any given day which wouldn't get me pasted? Secondly is that I am on blood-thinning medication, and so is taking a tablespoon amount of wine every couple of days going to affect my INR levels much? I'm going to cut back from a full tablespoon to half. This stuff is stronger than I thought it was! lol
Can you recommend a red wine that is not too strong/sour tasting for a non-wine drinker? My Mom's doctor said she needs to drink a glass of red wine a day for her health. She bought a red wine (sorry, I can't recall the name) but said it was much too strong tasting and sour for her. Can you recommend something that would be mild and sweeter tasting for someone who has not developed a taste for wine. Some have said pinot noir (sorry if that is incorrectly spelled, I obviously know nothing about wines) or merlot would be good. Do you agree? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I need to make this point stronger... I need wine that is sweet and high in alcohol content. Even if they meet in the middle. I'd have semi-sweet/semi-dry, rather than extremely dry and somewhat sweet or extremely sweet and somewhat dry. That's exactly what I need. The BEST wine to me is a nice tasting and very alcoholic wine. Can anyone tell me the name of a wine like this that is fairly common in America, Ohio specifically?
