Is Yellow Tail good? What's the best one? I know it's not exactly the creme of the crop, but I'm beginning to get into wine and I have trouble figuring out what to get. Yellow Tail is so distinct, so at least I know where to find it. If you told me to try "Robert Sinskey Los Carneros/Napa 2006" I would probably be lost on where to find it - if I could even remember the brand, type and year. I like fruity wine, like most beginners, but I don't like drinking something that tastes like juice either. I like blackberries in particular. I wish I could taste the "blackberry, vanilla and spice notes" in the bottle of cabernet sauvignon I bought, but it just tasted like wine. I guess I need to start swirling and sniffing. Last wine I bought was Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot, which was tasty, but I would like to try something without high fructose corn syrup in it lol:) Aww, thanks, but that brand isn't sold at my location (according to the website).
Advice on food that compliments certain wines needed please...and rather quickly too!? Hello, i'm going to a wine tasting evening tomorrow night (ok, so it's a bunch of friends meeting up to have a laugh and get drunk). But we are taking this quite seriously (sort of), and we each have to bring a good quality bottle of wine and provide a food snack that compliments the wine. I can choose to bring an unoaked pinot noir, merlot or a grenache...i need some advice on a snack that is high quality, simple and compliments one of these wines while taking about twenty minutes to knock up in my friend's kitchen after work tomorrow. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Note to self...be more organised next time! Sorry, I should have said any sensible suggestions are greatly appreciated.
